2013 Season - Week 22

Defence wins Championships

The best defence in the league beat the record scoring offense in the NFL as Seattle won its first ever Lombardi Trophy. They took the lead on the first Denver offensive play of the game and completely dominated Peyton Manning. In fact they were so dominant that they even let journeyman Tavaris Jackson play QB in the fourth quarter. Jackson now has as many Superbowl rings as Peyton Manning and one more than Dan Marino! BUMSBowl XVIII It was third time lucky for Wayne who won his first BUMSBowl after two previous disappointments. For Aaron his first visit to the big game was a painful affair after they chose 5 of 6 players the same. In the changes Wayne picked up Percy Harvin (who scored) while Aaron decided to go with his favourite NFL team and picked an all-Broncos line-up. Like Seattle, Wayne lead early and never looked back, winning 21-6. Wayne now has a 18-12 play-off record while Aaron falls to 10-13. Supergames & Superfood It was a good evening for Mark as he also scooped the most money in our games after beating the six other entrants with the best Superbowl team and predicting 3 of the 4 quarter leaders (sharing 2 out of 4 quarters with Aaron). Mark took home £11 for his £5 stake while Cheryl won £10 sharing a 4-way tie for first kicker and being closest to the final score while Chief was closest with his half-time prediction. Full games summary is attached. Also a huge thanks to Cheryl as always for a Superbowl feast of burgers, hot dogs to fortify the six BUMS present through to 3am. Now how’s that diet going Andy, Cheryl, Chief, Johnnie Marcus and Mark? And shout out to Lewis who also came over to HQ, for sleeping through his first Superbowl. Like father like son!
